Course Description
This course provides an elementary overview of the area of data and
computer communications. Emphases are on the principles and designs of
communication networks and protocols. Practical examples, such as IEEE 802,
X.25, TCP/IP, etc., of modern communication networks are discussed to
illustrate the design concepts.
Course Goals
Upon completing this course, you would be:
- able to recognize the basic issues involved in designing a communication
network
- able to understand the basic principles and designs of communication
networks and protocols
- familiar with some of the most common communication network and
protocol standards
- prepared to embark on further readings and studies in the area of
communication networks
